TOOTHLESS GEORGE.
Truly a one-man band, Toothless George plays guitar and drums and sings all at
the same time, even throwing in a dose of harmonica when his vocals need a rest.
The guy specializes in chaotic and wild punk rock mixed with rockabilly and country.
He's in town from Philly for a couple of gigs: Tonight's at Atlantis and Sat.
at The Tavern on Main, with The Tri-Fives and The In-Crowd supporting. (Atlantis
Bar & Tavern on Main, Sarasota) --CLB

or Die! Toothless George truely takes that sentiment to heart by eliminating not
only
managers,
booking agents, and sleazy lawyers, but also the need for band mates! He simultaniously
handles vocal, guitar, drum, tambourine, and harmonica responsibilities with punk
rock attitude and the zeal of a country preacher!

"Perhaps
the most interesting contributor to Get Outta Philly is Toothless George and his
One Man Band. With not one, but two stand-out tracks in "Don't Fuck With Me" and
"Train Wreck," the great toothless one blends honky-tonk country with roots rock
like the bastard offspring of Hasil Atkins and G.G. Allin. With a punk rocker's
attitude, the zeal of a country preacher and a Hank Williams songbook in hand,
Toothless George puts the majority of today's "alt-country" poseurs to shame with
seemingly endless energy and reckless country soul that is closer in spirit to
Jason & the Scorchers than to Ryan Adams or Wilco". LONESTAR

you're planning to visit the Double Down this weekend, just be prepared... Some
guy named Toothless George is bringing his one-man band to the stage every night.
His act has been evocatively described in fanzines as 'garbagebilly.' ...The sonic
instability and friction alone could cause a meltdown." LAS

"Two years ago, we got to review a CD that sounded very similar to Rancid, by
an amazing band called The Bedrockers. Now, I have a new CD from The Bedrockers'
singer/ bass player, Toothless George. A lot of bands break up and start
solo projects, but in his, he plays everything himself. There are no drum machines
or samples. This guy plays everything live. It's the coolest thing I've ever heard
of. It is a major contrast to the fast paced music he was playing before, but
it is no less impressive. Country Punk Rock Yee Haw!" THE
BYSTANDER (May

"One-man-band, Toothless George, exhibits his extraordinary talent
as he simultaniously sings and plays guitar, drums, and harmonica and tells people
to fuck off. Now a long-time resident of philadelphia, George (although he may
not admit it) once lived in the First State. See, good things can actually come
out of Delaware - and you might know him as the punk prodigy who founded such
legendary local bands as Mao & the Chinese Revolution." |
